No one hurt as fuel tanker catches fire in Cueibet

A fuel tanker belonging to Africa Resource Corporation (ARC) was on Saturday involved in an accident and caught fire in Cueibet County of Lakes State, police and an eyewitness said.

A fuel tanker belonging to Africa Resource Corporation (ARC) was on Saturday involved in an accident and caught fire in Cueibet County of Lakes State, police and an eyewitness said.

The State’s Acting Police Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Moses Machuoc Bol told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that no one was hurt as a result of the fire.

“When the fuel tanker caught fire, the Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the scene and immediately rescued the situation. They managed to put out the fire and there was no death or injury sustained during the incident,” Moses said.

 “What got burned from the fuel tanker during the incident is the tanker’s head, but the rest of the body was rescued by the firefighters and the fuel in the tanker is safe,” he added.

He said the fire brigade authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.” I am warning citizens in Cueibet County to stay far away and avoid smoking cigarettes from where the fuel tanker caught fire,” he said.

Matur Machiek, who is an eyewitness, said:  “There was no one hurt or property affected by the fire. After the fire incident, residents of Cueibet managed to put out the fire.”
