No non-food items provided to displaced people in Blue Nile

The Head of the Ingessina Development Authority claimed they distributed food and non-food humanitarian aid to the displaced families who are currently living around Roseires and Ed Damazin in Sudan’s Blue Nile State.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Abdel-Ghani Dagis Khalifa noted that about 25 villages were affected by the ongoing conflict in the state. He pointed out that the state government, in collaboration with humanitarian organizations, provided food and non-food items to the conflict-affected people recently.

Abdel-Ghani Dagis, who is also member of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), said the displaced families are now preparing for this year’s agricultural season.

For their part, the internally displaced people from Ingessina Mountains denied the official’s claims.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several displaced persons reported a deteriorating humanitarian condition in the state. The complaining families said they were experiencing acute shortages of humanitarian assistance, including shelter.

The displaced families, however, admitted that they received a small bushel of flour in early August, but that it was not sufficient. They said that there were no non-food items distributed to them.

The local official announced recently that over 35,000 people, who were forcibly displaced from Bau locality by Sudan Armed Forces, have recently been forced to relocate again, to areas on the outskirts of Ed Damazin town and Roseires.
