The two governors of South Sudan’s Latjor and Maiwut states have failed to form their governments since President Kiir appointed them to lead the newly created states over the past three months, a former local official said.
In January, President appointed Peter Garkwath Khor as the new governor of Latjor state and Bol Ruach Rom as the new governor of Maiwut state. The two men are members of the SPLA-IO faction led by First Vice President Taban Deng Gai.
The former official who preferred anonymity told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that two governors couldn’t name their cabinet ministers because they are still waiting for the ruling party led by President Kiir to summit their candidates.
He pointed out that the ruling SPLM party had proposed some names to be appointed as deputies to the two governors, but President Kiir has not yet taken any decision.
The former official expressed concern over what he termed as an “administrative vacuum” in the state since January.
