No food reduction in Malakal PoC, WFP says

There has not been a reduction in food rations for IDP’s living in the Malakal protection of civilians site, the World Food Program told Radio Tamazuj in an interview.

There has not been a reduction in food rations for IDP’s living in the Malakal protection of civilians site, the World Food Program told Radio Tamazuj in an interview.

“The people we serve are currently receiving food to last for 15-day ration and will receive a further 15 day ration as from August 29,” George Fominyen, a spokesperson for WFP said over email.

Recently IDP’s within Malakal camp have told Radio Tamazuj that their rations have been cut.

Fominyen said the decision to split the distribution into two phases was “a precautionary measure as WFP had still not received re-supplies by barge at the time when distributions where due to start for this round,”

He assured Radio Tamazuj that the barge of food supplies has arrived in the past week, and there is sufficient stocks of food to cover the needs of people in the camp.
