The Commissioner of Manyo County in Upper Nile State says that health facilities in the area have no essential drugs, and that they lack medical equipment.
Manyo County has been contested by government and opposition forces. It lies on the western bank of the Nile river opposite Renk Couty.
Eye Radio reports that Commissioner Rajab Deng Ajak says cases of malaria are on the rise. “We visited the hospital and honestly, people are suffering,” he said.
“There are also food shortages in some areas. And there are suspected cases of cholera as there are people who have some symptoms of cholera.”
“We are calling for urgent supply, and we are talking to humanitarian organizations to intervene and rescue the situation in the county.”
