About 300 households displaced by conflict from various villages in South Kordofan’s Talodi Locality have sought refuge in El Obeid town in North Kordofan State. They say they are facing tough conditions.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, some internally displaced persons in El Obeid town complained of lack of food and other essential services.

Marwa Ajak, a refugee at Hai Matar in El Obeid, said more than 300 families who were forced to flee their homes by  violent conflict in Talodi are living in a dire  humanitarian conditions due to the total absence of assistance from either the state or non-governmental organizations.

She said most of the displaced in Al Obeid only depend on the meagre agricultural produce they have, in spite of a weak harvest this year. Parents also noted their children have no access to schools due to parents’ inability to pay school fees for their children in El Obeid.

“I appeal for quick intervention before the humanitarian situation deteriorate,” Marwa emphasized.
