The Police in Nimule town, Eastern Equatoria State, have arrested a woman whose lover committed suicide last week.

Major David Khasmiro Nimule, the chief inspector of police in Nimule, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that Sergeant John Amei was a health care personnel with the Tiger Division of the SSPDF and took his life last week after realizing that his lover, the lady who has now been detained, is the wife of one of his relatives.

He said the case has now been forwarded to court.

“The man killed himself. For sure he had a relationship with the woman whose husband works in Juba. It turns out he was related to the husband of his lover,” Major Khasmiro explained. “Some of these women have no self-control and cannot wait. After they committed adultery, the husband came with other relatives to solve the problem but the man (Amei) just decided to commit suicide.”

Nimule Town Clerk Max Yousif Kalafala confirmed that the lady was being detained in the police station.

“The late is John Amei, a sergeant in Tiger Division of SSPDF. He is a lotuko by tribe from the Logir area,” Kalafala said.  “That is not even his wife, it is just because of alcohol that they messed up. They did not even report the suicide to the police but we just realized that soldiers took his body for burial.”
