The South Sudanese government has banned night discos in Juba after a young man was shot and killed at a nightclub in the Buluk neighbourhood on Saturday night.
“We will not allow disco places to operate until further notice. These places are not organized, there is insecurity in these places,” Police Spokesman Gen. Daniel Justin said Monday.
The police spokesperson said more than 50 suspects have been arrested following the deadly shooting incident over the weekend.
“Generally, the security situation is good but we have some cases of insecurity. There was a case of ‘niggers’ who fought themselves in Konor after Gumbo Shirkat,” he explained.
Daniel said police forces also arrested suspects in the Gumbo suburb after a young man was killed and 2 others were admitted to Juba Teaching Hospital.
According to the police, the culprits will be charged under article 206 of the South Sudan 2008 penal code.
In 2019, the government banned nightclubs after claims of immoral acts involving teenage girls.
