Ngok Dinka, Misseriya youth to organize peace conference in Abyei

A number of youth from the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka tribes will meet in Amith village in the contested area of Abyei for a peace conference aimed at bolstering the role of youth in peace-building between the two tribes, a traditional leader said.

The youth’s conference is supported by the British-based organization Concordis which is trying to bring reconciliation between the two peoples.

Sultan Nyol Pagot Deng, Acting Paramount Chief of the Ngok Dink tribe, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the youth’s peace conference will be convened on 25 October, saying the meeting aims at strengthening the role of youth in the peace process.

Pagot also revealed that there will be exchange of visits between women from the Misseriya and Dinka Ngok tribes if the peace agreement continues between the two tribes.
