A meeting between leaders from the two tribes of Dinka and Misseriya is due to take place in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa next Thursday, in line with efforts of the African Union High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) to bring social and stability to the disputed Abyei Area.
Bulabek Deng Kuol, Paramount Chief of the Ngok Dinka says that the UN mission UNISFA informed them that there will be a meeting between Ngok Dinka and Misseriya in Addis Ababa from 11 June and it will continue until 15 June.
The chief noted that the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC) from South Sudan did not notify them about the meeting but it was the UNISFA.
In an April meeting of the two sides of AJOC, which is co-chaired by representatives of Juba and Khartoum, AU envoy Thabo Mbeki presided. The meetig recommended that leaders of the Ngok and Misseriya tribes meet in Addis Ababa at the end of April.
