Ngok Dinka leaders accept to hold peace meeting with Misseriya at Diffra

The civil administration leaders of the Ngok Dinka tribe in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan have agreed to hold a new peace meeting with the Arab Misseriya tribe at Diffra.

Deputy Ngok Dinka Paramount Chief Nyol Fagot Deng told Radio Tamazuj that the Ngok Dinka Ngok tribe accepted to sit down with the Misseriya for a peace conference at Diffra area in the north of Abyei.

He pointed out that the decision was taken at a meeting between the Ngok Dinka traditional leaders, farmers, and herders.

Nyol said they proposed to include the Rizeigat and the Dinka Malual tribes as well, plus traditional leaders from South Sudan’s Unity State and the Fayarin tribe in Sudan’s West Kordofan as observers.

The Ngok Dinka leader rejected the involvement of the two governments of Sudan and South Sudan. “The problems we are experiencing now were caused by the governments. So, we don’t want the participation of the governments, it should be a conference between the communities only,” he said.
