Members of the Ngok Dinka community in Nairobi on Saturday organized the first cultural day with hundreds of Abyei students living in Nairobi joining in the celebrations in honour of the area’s cultural heritage.

Speaking during the event, Abyei’s famous singer Amira Deng said that the cultural day was the first of its kind in Nairobi. She further said the event created an opportunity for the people of Abyei including their children to celebrate their unique culture.

Deng called on the two warring parties in South Sudan to work for peace and stability, saying stability in South Sudan means stability in Abyei.
