Bulabek Deng Kuol, paramount chief of the Ngok Dinka in the disputed territory of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan has call on members of the Misseriya and Ngok tribes to implement the local peace signed in December last year.

Bulabek Deng Kuol, paramount chief of the Ngok Dinka in the disputed territory of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan has call on members of the Misseriya and Ngok tribes to implement the local peace signed in December last year.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Bulabek said the two sides should start to pay blood money as a sign of goodwill to avoid revenge killings as Misseriya pastoralists start their seasonal migration into Abyei in search of water and grazing areas.

“What is needed now is the implementation of the agreement. The Misseriya want to come for water and grazing areas, but there is fear because of violations, so those who lost their loved ones can retaliate,” said Bulabek.

He pointed out that the Ngok Dinka will pay blood money for one person killed from the Misseriya, while the other side will pay blood money for 12 people killed from the Ngok Dinka before 15 January according to the signed agreement.

Sultan Bulabek called on the two sides to pay blood money and embrace peace and forgiveness in Abyei area.
