The newly appointed Minister of Information and Communications for Unity State has pledged “to build a state television station as a priority if oil continues flowing”.

Minister Nyaliek John Dak told the press on Wednesday that the state development is not only for the SPLM leaders but needs the support of all parties to deliver services to the public, particularly to the rural communities of South Sudan.

Mrs Nyaliek stated: “My main plan for the Ministry in order to raise information is to establish TV and the Internet as the only way to link Unity state with outside world and to raise alarm on issues of security and humanitarian needs on the ground.”

Minister Nyaliek stressed that she will also establish weekly magazine that will focus on state government, NGOs, natural occurrences, planned and unplanned activities to speed information in the state.

“The only way to achieve the desired activities within the ministry, I shall cooperate with staff and work together to deliver accurate information in order to promote coexistence among the state citizens and to encourage investors to invest in the state,” Nyaliek explained.

Minister Nyaliek added that she will work hand-in-hand with the newly appointed Governor Monytuil of Unity state to stop discrimination against journalists in their newly appointed government.
