New Torit Commissioner vows to tackle insecurity

New Torit County Commissioner Christopher Caesar has declared as his priority the security along the roads connecting the town to the payams.

Caesar made the declaration when he hosted 15 lawmakers of the Torit County Parliamentary Caucus on Wednesday.

The visit was aimed at discussing issues affecting the local communities.

President Salva Kiir appointed Caesar earlier this month, to replace Jacob Atari Albano. Caesar was sworn into office last week.

Caesar has called for cooperation and unity among leaders in the protection of lives and properties of the residents.

“The visit of the parliamentarians to my office is a very good move and I appreciate them for disregarding their different parties to demonstrate a connection between the Executive and the Legislature,” he said.

“This is the spirit of unity and is what we have always been longing for,” he added.

The Chairperson of the Torit Parliamentary Caucus Angela Ajani Pio admitted that there were alarming insecurity cases and child abductions along the roads.

She encouraged the new Commissioner to embark on security to enable citizens enjoy the dividend of peace in the county.

“We came to visit the Commissioner to enable him know the Torit County Parliamentarians well for us to work together. He has come in when Torit is peaceful as opposed to when the situation was particularly bad in Hiyala Payam and parts of Torit South West, which experienced child abduction, she said.

Pio urged Caesar to address all the issues affecting the areas under him.
