The new Catholic Bishop of Torit Diocese is urging the government to work with all citizens and foster dialogue.
Monsignor Stephen Ameyu Martin speaking upon his arrival in Torit town at the beginning of the week said real peace can only be attained when the government and citizens cooperate.
“If we work together we will always realize peace. I call on our government to always cooperate with us. Let us open our doors for dialogue,’’ he appealed.
Ameyu urged all leaders and citizens to support peace efforts and ensure full implementation of the September peace agreement.
“We are talking about revitalization but this peace cannot be revitalized unless we begin with transforming ourselves,’’ he said.
Torit Diocese has been without a bishop since 18th of March 2013 when Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek died.
The diocese has since been run by the apostolic administrator Monsignor Thomas Oliha Atiya.
Pope Francis on Thursday 3rd of January 2019, appointed Rev. Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla as the new Bishop of Torit Diocese.
