Lokali Amae Bullen, the newly appointed chief administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), has vowed to restore peace and security in his area and beyond.
Amae, who took the oath of office on Friday last week, replaced Gen. Joshua Konyi who served in the position from June 2020 until his sacking last Wednesday.
“As the new chief administrator, my immediate priority as I assume office on Monday is unity and peace in our area. We have to be united as Murle, Anyuak, Jie, and Kachipo. We cannot talk of security and development if we are not united because other politicians will work against us as it happened in the past,” Amae said while addressing the congregation during a Sunday service at a Presbyterian church in Juba.
The chief administrator also condemned the endemic child abduction practice in GPAA and said that he will work with traditional leaders and the neighboring communities to bring the practice to a halt.
Baba Medan Konyi, the deputy national information minister, urged the GPAA communities to rally behind the new administrator to ensure that peace and development are delivered while emphasizing that political changes are normal.
For his part, the outgoing chief administrator, Gen. Joshua Konyi, welcomed his replacement and pointed out that he will support his successor with military expertise so that security is restored to Greater Jonglei.
