New Lakes state committee heads named

Following wrangles over the naming of specialized committee heads in the Lakes State Assembly, State Speaker Dhieu Wal Takping urged all of the members to unify behind the selections.

Takping told Radio Tamazuj the specialized committees include 12 members, seven of whom are female and five male. All come from the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement party. The choices were determined through a consultation with people from the state’s various constituencies.

The new appointees will serve for two years, at which point new heads will be selected. Takping said the idea was for people to gain leadership experience.

He urged members of the assembly to now turn to focus on development issues and not on personal gain.
