The newly appointed commissioner of Kangapo County in the former Kajo-Keji area of Yei River State says peace and accessibility will be his top agenda while in office.
Speaking at a greater Kajo-Keji Community forum in Yei town last Saturday Henry Kalla Sabuni said restoring peace and stability will promote unity, return of the civil population and delivery of services to local communities.
Kalla said he will engage with the armed opposition though peace dialogue in a bid to restore hope and confidence in the people.
He called on the community members, the government and the opposition groups to dialogue for the wellbeing of the civil population.
“The community should be near to us in providing peace advice to the commissioner to reach out to our brothers and sisters who have taken up arms against the government to have a meaningful dialogue to have a lasting peace for our greater county. We will try our best to ensure that peace process starts with us the government and the community,” he said.
Kalla called on the state governor to ensure that the roads connecting Kajo-Keji County to the Yei state capital are accessible for civilian movement.
The new commissioner also appealed to the UN and other humanitarian organizations operating in Yei River State and South Sudan to roll out humanitarian support to the people trapped in the villages of greater Kajo-Keji Counties.
