An opposition general has declared himself the interim leader of the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Gen. Thomas Cirillo, the opposition group led by Cirillo said.
According to a statement issued by Cirillo’s group and extended to Radio Tamazuj this morning, Julius Tabule Daniel announced himself as the interim chairman of NAS.
General Julius Tabule, who was formerly commissioner of Kangapo County in Kajo-Keji area, is a top commander of NAS in the area of Kajo-Keji.
The group loyal to General Cirillo described General Tabuley as an opportunist who has easily fallen into the hands of the Juba government and others to use the name of NAS.
The opposition group stressed that it has not authorized any person to sign the peace agreement on its behalf in Khartoum.
NAS reiterated its refusal to sign the peace deal in Khartoum in its current form.
In July, South Sudan government signed an agreement with a breakaway faction from National Salvation Front (NAS).
The peace agreement was signed by Maj. Gen. Simon Carlo Lopanyang on behalf of the breakaway group, while Maj. Gen. Joseph Buong Anyardit signed on behalf of the government.
