New diseases in Pariang, Unity linked to oil leaks

Pariang county commissioner Monylang Manyiel has linked a rise in diseases in the county to oil leakages.

Pariang county commissioner Monylang Manyiel has linked a rise in diseases in the county to oil leakages.

Manyiel expressed his concern over the emergence of strange infections among local citizens and cattle.

He attributed the problem to environmental pollution caused by damaged pipelines due to the ongoing conflict in the state since December last year.

Manyiel pointed out that local community normally drink stream water due to shortages of water sources in the area.

“There are pipelines that are leaking which are now mixed with drinking water, so people and cattle drink from there which is harmful,” he said.
