The newly appointed South Sudan’s deputy minister of information and communications, Lily Albino Akol Akol, has welcomed her appointment by the country’s president Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Lily said she had received flattering congratulatory messages from many people following her appointment while in neighbouring Ethiopia as part of the government team at the ongoing peace talks.
The new deputy information minister was appointed this week through a presidential order which ousted from office the predecessor, Akol Paul Kordit.
Lily is now in Addis Ababa as part of the government delegation participating at the ongoing peace talks with opposition groups.
She had served as deputy minister of agriculture.
Lily’s predecessor Akol Paul Kordit was reportedly sacked after raising concerns over the issue of corruption and mismanagement in the ministry of information.
