New county commissioners in rebel Bieh State

The governor of the rebel-held Bieh State Koang Gatkuoth Kerjok on Wednesday announced the appointment of 10 new county commissioners.

Bieh State is not constitutionally one of South Sudan's ten states but was declared to be a state by the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (in Opposition), SPLM-IO, which controls the area. Its boundaries include the Lou Nuer territory of eastern Jonglei.

Koang Gatkuoth made the announcement from the state capital Waat using a two-way radio device connected with other units in the state. He appointed the following commissioners:

Koang Pout Ruach for Motor County, Joseph Kir Changach for Pulchol County, Tut Ngundeng for Pieri County, Makhor Bol for Yuai County, Duol Chuol for Lankien County, Dak Dual for Pading for County, Khor Makuei for Pulturuk County, Gatwech Koryom for Akobo West County, Tut Chot Rial for Akobo East County, Peter Bum Reat for Akobo Center County.

The mentioned territories comprise the former administrative areas of Akobo County, Uror County and Nyirol County.

In his first address as governor of the state in early March, Koang had presented a proposal to structure the new state government with himself as governor, a deputy, ten county commissioners, six state ministers and a state secretary-general.
