The Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State John Kong Nyuon has issued a decree on Tuesday appointing the two commissioners for Duk and Bor counties.

In November the governor sacked Bor Commissioner Agoot Alier and Duk Commissioner Elijah Mocnhom Wuor and asked the communities to submit names of nominees whom they would like appointed as commissioners.

Bor County submitted five names to the governor’s office to make further selection and Duk community submitted four names.

Speaking today, Jody Jonglei, Jonglei State Minister of Information, said that the new commissioners are Isaac Mamer Ruk in Bor County and Jacob Akech Deng Kuanyin in Duk County.

The minister said the governor has also appointed the State Cabinet Affairs Minister Samuel Jok Baany to replace Gai Riam, who reportedly resigned.

According to a source who has seen the governor’s decree, it was issued this morning at around 10:00 a.m., but it has yet to be announced on official state media.

The source also told Radio Tamazuj that Isaac Mamer has served some years ago in Bor County as town clerk, while he did not know the background of Jacob Akech Deng Kuanyin.
