Authorities in Maban County, Upper Nile, South Sudan organized a reception on Monday for the newly appointed commissioner Tumati Nau.
In late July, Upper Nile Governor Simon Kun appointed Nau to replace former commissioner James Pasha.
Local sources told Radio Tamazuj Sunday that authorities have been mobilizing a considerable number of local residents and refugees to attend the welcoming ceremony at Doro camp.
The state governor’s security adviser and several government officials in the county were expected to attend the celebration.
Last week, Maban County witnessed a standoff between defected troops and a local militia group known as the Mabanese Defence Force (MDF) resulting in mounting tension and the MDF killing at least six aid workers suspected of being Nuer.
