Police authorities in Yei River County have launched a new chapel at Yei central police station, Cush Chapel, which is established under the national police’s chaplaincy service.

1st Lieutenant Santo Lual, the chapel’s pastor in-charge, told reporters that the facility will work to sensitize the police and army forces on the need for peace, reconciliation and trauma healing.

He called on Christians to continue praying for the army forces so that peace and stability can prevail in all parts of the country. “We open Cush Chapel to bring our brothers who are on duty to share the word of God. We also need not to preach only about the Bible but also preach peace and we also called on as Christians to also pray for the army,” he added.

Lual said the new church still lacks furniture and Bibles for the police and the army to practice prayers and studies. “The people and the army are traumatised; we lack some materials like Bibles and praising songs so that the church can use them for Bible study.”

Pastor Lual said they are planning to open up new branches in all the army and police stations in Yei, Morobo, Tore, Kajo-Keji and Lainya counties.
