New caretaker governor on tour in Unity State

Unity State’s new caretaker governor has made several visits throughout the state since taking up office last week. He traveled on Monday in the company of another former governor.

Maguk Rundial, a former governor of Upper Nile province in 1987 and the Unity State governor in 2000, addressed members of the of Chiang-Gany community in Pakur today in the presence of the caretaker governor Joseph Nguen Monytuil.

The politician appealed to listeners to ‘give time’ to the new governor whom he said would bring changes to the state. Maguk added that he visited Bentiu Hospital with the new governor yesterday, and they found that many pregnant women and children are suffering there without adequate treatment.

Gatwic Lul, an elder of the Chian-Gany community, said that they need education for their children, healthcare, and better roads.

Governor Monytuil has described security as his top priority. Last week on the day that he arrived in the state capital on a flight from Juba, there were reports of raiding in the Manga area in Guit County.

Various sources told Radio Tamazuj that 11 houses were burned by cattle raiders who crossed from Pariang County, reportedly killing at least four people.
