Authorities in South Sudan’s Aweil East State on Saturday last week officially inaugurated a newly built headquarters in Wanyjok town.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the state information minister Garang Malong Yor said the building will be the state headquarters.

He said revenues generated from household taxes and other contributions were used to construct the building, congratulating the state citizens for their positive contribution towards the achievement.

“The new council of ministers was officially opened in the presence of the governor, ministers, chiefs and the general public,” said Yor.

Since the state was established in 2015, its headquarters was in a building owned by ex-army chief, Paul Malong Awan in Malualkon.

In November 201, however, an unexpected increase in rent for the building where its headquarters was located from 30,000 SSP to $4,000 SSP monthly, prompted Aweil East authorities to consider relocating to a commercial building located in Wanyjok town.
