The newly appointed head of anti-corruption commission in South Sudan has welcomed his appointment, describing the assignment as difficult task.
“Yes, I have been appointed and took oath of office before the president of the republic last Friday. The word of H.E Excellency were encouraging and would form the basis of how we at the commission will reshape the institution with the help of other sister institutions. I know there will be challenges but with institutional cooperation we will do something,” said Ngor Kolong Ngor in an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday.
President Kiir last year removed the head of anti-corruption commission and made him the deputy chief justice without appointing his successor. The position remained held by the deputy head of the commission until last month when Ngor Kolong Ngor, his deputy Samuel Jok and the chairperson of Public Grievances Commission Biong Kuol Deng were appointed through presidential orders.
The ceremony of the new officials was held at the State House in Juba during a function presided over Chief Justice Chan Reech Madut last Friday.
