Nepalese military chief to visit South Sudan

The Nepalese army chief General Rajendra Chhetri is scheduled to visit war-torn South Sudan on April 6.

The Nepalese army chief General Rajendra Chhetri is scheduled to visit war-torn South Sudan on April 6.

The military chief, the Directorate of Public Relations of the Army (DPR) said in a statement, will meet with South Sudan’s army chief James Ajonga Mawut and Governor of Western Lakes State Matur Chut.

In South Sudan, General Chhetri will also meet with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General David Shearer and Force Commander Lieutenant General Frank Mushyo Kamanzi.

General Chhetri will also inspect Nepal army troops deployed as part of the UN peacekeeping forces in South Sudan.

Chhetri, who leads a four-member delegation, will return to his country on April 09.
