Nearly 30,000 refugees transported to new site in White Nile state

Authorities in Sudan’s White Nile state have started relocating 30,000 South Sudanese refugees from Kilo Ashara village in anticipation of the rainy season.

Authorities in Sudan’s White Nile state have started relocating 30,000 South Sudanese refugees from Kilo Ashara village in anticipation of the rainy season.

In a Thursday press statement, the head of the refugees coordinating committee Al Tayib Mohamed Abdullah said transportation of refugees would finish early next week.

Abdullah said the new sites are in El Radis Al Bahr, El Khair Tawaklna, Buri, Kashafa, El Rashidi, and El Zalit East and West.

He said the new sites have four staffed and stocked mobile medical clinics, as well as clean drinking water, aid assistance, and shelters.  The relocation is coordinated with the Sudanese Red Crescent, the World Food Programme, and the Humanitarian Aid Commission, Abdullah said.
