Students aligned with Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP) fought their peers at Omdurman al-Ahlia University Sunday evening.
The NCP members, armed with guns and machetes, clashed with other students following a disagreement inside a mosque.
The clashes quickly moved to outside the mosque, before the NCP members attacked other students on campus, prompting students to flee the premises amid gunshots.
“They don’t manage to solve the problem inside the mosque. They stormed university campus using firearms and machetes. They caused panic and havoc in the University,” one student told Radio Tamazuj by phone while running away.
