Deng Dut Aliel, the commissioner of Baac County in Northern Bahr el Ghazal (NBEG), has relocated his office from Rum Aker to Rumyol at Omdurman due to inaccessibility of the county headquarters in the rainy season.
Baac County is one of the new counties in the controversial Aweil East State, which President Salva Kiir created by decree in place of the constitutionally established Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, which he has dissolved. Three successor governments are now in place in the former state territory.
“It is only four months that I will be at Rumyol so that I can be able to go to the state and coordinate my activities and the deputy executive director with some administrators remain at Rum Aker to serve the population there,” said Deng.
Deng said that majority of his people especially those in the highland villages will be cut off completely as rain starts heavily saying that he is worried for sick people and others who may not be able to travel to the new state headquarters Wanyjok, which was formerly the Aweil East County headquarters.
He stated that one of his priorities is to construct roads linking his county to state capital and other counties.
