The passport of Deng Telar, son of the former South Sudanese ambassador to Russia, was seized by security officials at Juba Airport on Monday.

The passport of Deng Telar, son of the former South Sudanese ambassador to Russia, was seized by security officials at Juba Airport on Monday.

Deng, 30, was working as a National Security official at South Sudan’s embassy in Moscow.

Ambassador Telar Deng told Radio Tamazuj this afternoon that his son went to Juba after being recalled by National Security Service and that his passport was confiscated upon his arrival at Juba Airport.

“I think what is happening between me and Salva and others is the reason for the confiscation of Deng’s passport,” Telar said.

A relative in Juba confirmed that Deng’s passport was seized by National Security agents at Juba Airport upon his arrival from Russia.

South Sudan’s National Security Service have recently revoked the passports of at least seven army officers for alleged links with the country’s former army chief Paul Malong.
