A National Security officer was shot and critically wounded in skirmishes that occurred in the Jonglei State capital, Bor on Saturday, a government official said.
The state governor, Phillip Aguer told Radio Tamazuj Tuesday that the officer was wounded during an exchange of gunfire between national security officers and a policeman following a disagreement.
The incident, he said, happened at Marol market in Bor town.
Aguer pointed out that the injured officer is being treated at a United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) health facility in Bor.
The top state official said the policeman involved in the incident has been arrested pending investigations and those responsible would be held accountable.
Aguer urged residents to be calm as government handles the issue.
