The leadership of the National Movement for Change has dismissed reports alleging that its leader has joined Riek Machar, leader of armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation in Opposition as fraud and unfounded.
The group cited several documents released On 25 January 2017, two of which claimed “appointment of political advisors, Chief of General Staff of the SPLA IO and Other Senior Officials”. The document shows Col Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro, the former Governor of Western Equatoria State and now Chairman of SSNMC, was appointed Advisor for Political Affairs by the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLA (IO), Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon.
SSMNC, according to it release, said it reached out to SPLA (IO) for confirmation of the authenticity of the document and appointment but it turned out that the Chairman and Commander in Chief of SPLA (IO) did not such appointment.
The allegation, it said, has been confirmed from a very reliable source that a top diplomat representing the government of president Kiir and stationed abroad was one who wrote the document and forged the signatory of the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLA (IO).
“SSNMC would like to inform all its supporters in South Sudan and worldwide that this is a false media blitzes propaganda sanctioned by the government in Juba masquerading as it comes from Dr. Riek Machar. This appointment is completely untrue, baseless and a fabricated lie, which is intended to delude and mislead our supporters and well-wishers as a result of the overwhelming support SSNMC continue to receiving from South Sudanese of all ages and ethnicities and people of goodwill worldwide”, the statement notes in part.
The movement says it condemns the acts of fraud and forgery as acts of corruption and irresponsible government, which strengthens and advances its vie and resolve for change to salvage South Sudan from irresponsible warlords who does nothing but brings destructions and shame to the country.
