Nasir town captured by rebels

SPLA Col. Philip Aguer, spokesman of South Sudan’s army, says SPLM-IO forces under command of Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth attacked Nasir this morning.

He stated at about midday that fighting was still ongoing.

SPLM-IO military spokesman Lul Ruai Kong tells Radio Tamazuj their forces entered Nasir this morning together with 'white army', after attacking in the early morning.

He says the SPLA forces have been driven in different directions, with some being pursued towards Yer-Adiu, and others having surrendered their uniforms and weapons and sought protection of the United Nations at their base in Nasir.

Meanwhile, a source within SPLA divisional headquarters in Upper Nile says there has been a dispute within Division 1, Brigade 2 at a place called Tipen between Maban and Jiang Ageer.

Separately, several defectors have left SPLA force in Renk and are believed to have crossed the Nile to SPLM-IO territory in Wadakona.
