Authorities in Narus County in South Sudan’s Kapoeta state report diseases killing cattle in the county.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Commissioner Newton Thomas said over 50 cattle have died due to lack of treatment.
He further said a large number of cattle are still infected. Thomas called on the relevant authorities to send vaccines so that the disease is contained before it spreads further.
Separately, the commissioner voiced concerns about a failed agricultural season this year in several areas in the county.
Thomas explained that irregular rains have negatively affected crop production during this year’s farming season.
The county official also complained about rising prices of essential commodities at the market.
