Security organs in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have announced a new security strategy to combat crimes and insecurity in the state.
The state police spokesperson Guot Guot Akol told Radio Tamazuj that the strategy will bring security services closer to citizens. He said the state has been divided into two sections to be headed by brigadier generals.
“We decided to take security close to the citizens. And for that reason, we divided the state into the western and eastern sections. Each section is commanded by a Brigadier General and other officers,” Guot said. “A sector has eight zones where the criminals carry out barbaric activities and we managed to deploy our forces there so that it will ease the process for the citizens get the security services closely.”
Northern Bahr el Ghazal information minister William Anyuon congratulated the organized force for taking lead in the fight against crimes.
“The situation is calm up to now there are no problems in the state despite small issues which are addressed by our police and security forces. We have groups of criminal boys who have been terrorizing our people for the last two months,” says Anyuon.
A member of the state chamber of commerce, Malong Deng Nyuany congratulated the security forces and especially the new police commissioner Maj. General Philip Madut for prioritizing the safety of citizens and their property.
He said the recent police patrols in Aweil Main market, the Maper Akot market, and other local markets have reduced the number of burglaries.
