Northern Bahr el Ghazal’s State government Tuesday commenced the payment of October 2021 salary arrears for civil servants in the state.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the Director-General for Northern Bahr el Ghazal finance ministry John Karlo Dut said the payments are made per the presidential order with a hundred percent increment.
“We started the payment today (Tuesday) and it is for October 2021 and they are requesting the salaries for November and December. After we clear these remaining months, it means that the workers will be waiting for wages for the new year, 2022,” Karlo said.
Garang Akec, a civil servant in Aweil appreciated the government for the salary increments and for paying October arrears although he insisted that life has become so expensive due to inflation. He urged the state government to pay all the arrears so that the employees are motivated.
Bashir Athian, another civil servant said he had received his salary but still urged the state government to ensure the prompt payment of workers’ salaries.
