N Bahr el Ghazal govt gives itself another 3 years in power

The parliament of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has amended the state constitution to extend the tenure of the current state government beyond its elected term by three years.

The parliament of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has amended the state constitution to extend the tenure of the current state government beyond its elected term by three years.

Minister of Local Government Adub Achier Dut presented the state constitutional amendments to the parliament today for deliberations. The parliament warmly welcomed the amendments to two articles.

One amendment extends the term of the legislative assembly from 9 July 2015 until 9 July 2018 and the other does the same for the tenure of the governor.
