The government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State on Wednesday launched the construction of a 436 kilometers tarmac road linking the state with Western Bahr el Ghazal State and neighboring Western Kordofan State in Sudan.
The road is expected to be completed in the next three years and is being implemented by the Africa Kongdai for Roads, Bridges, and Investment company, which recently imported working machines and tools from Sudan.
“We are launching the road from Kuom area in Aweil to Wau and from Kuom to Mairam and we are witnessing now the company has prepared its machines to start the work,” Northern Bahr el Ghazal State acting governor, Dr. Tong Lual Ayat addressed the press at the launch. “Of course, the roads connection is President Kiir’s main project because he wanted the country to be connected with roads.”
Lual Aguer Lual, the General Manager for the Africa Kongdai for Roads, Bridges and Investment Company, encouraged his engineers to work hard and meet the deadline.
“We are delighted today (Wednesday) on the launching occasion and by hardworking, patience and good relations may make the work successful. We wanted to serve this country with great enthusiasm like in the past, he said.
Aguer said his company successfully constructed the Warrap, Nyamlel-Marial Baai-Raja roads among others.
Ajak Mohammed Ajak, the project manager for the Africa Kongdai for Roads, Bridges, and Investment, said the work will finish in time if workers are paid in time.
