The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly in its eighth session last Monday canceled Yienh Aluk Market survey. The urgent matter was raised by Aweil Urban Constituency Member of Parliament Santino Mayuat Ngong and the Assembly voted to stop ongoing survey in the area.

Explaining the move, the area MP said the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure had organized the survey without knowledge of the constituency stakeholders, which he said was unacceptable.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the information committee chairperson in the state assembly Achak Thiep Thiep said, “Assembly has right to stop ongoing survey of Yienh Aluk because rain season is coming and normal citizens will not find where they will be relocated.”

“Second to that there were many open places being surveyed as markets since that time till now they are not functioning or active and by that reason Assembly does not want random survey of the public lands,” he explained.
