The ministry of education in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr al Ghazal state suspended dozens of primary and high school teachers for alleged incomplete employment files.
Several suspended teachers told Radio Tamazuj they stopped working almost a month ago, while denying reports they have recently been reinstated by the state ministry of labour and public service.
The complaining teachers accused the state government of ignoring the teaching profession.
They pointed out that some of them will resort to work with other departments in the state.
Education sectors in various South Sudanese states have been complaining about poor levels of teachers, especially after schools transitioned to using the English language following independence.
Northern Bahr al Ghazal caretaker governor Kuel Aguer Kuel recently appointed Achak Deng Nyibek as state minister of education.
