Adam Dau, one of the leaders of Muslim community in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has appealed to communities to stop the rampant inter-communal violence and cattle raiding activities in the country.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last Friday, Sheikh Dau, the Imam of Aweil main mosque said communal violence and killing of innocent people should be denounced.

“My brothers who loot other peoples’ cattle or money should repent and come back to God,” he said.

Sheikh Dau said illegal wealth does not make communities progress.

Livestock-keeping communities in South Sudan routinely engage in cattle raids, which observers say have become more deadly because the pastoralists switched from using spears and arrows to using guns.
