A popular singer was killed and three passengers injured in an ambush by gunmen along the Juba-Nimule road on Monday morning, eyewitnesses and police authorities said.

A popular singer was killed and three passengers injured in an ambush by gunmen along the Juba-Nimule road on Monday morning, eyewitnesses and police authorities said.

The eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the singer Mabor Abud, better known by the nickname “Emma 47”, was killed in the ambush along the Juba-Nimule road. They further said Emma 47 was travelling from Juba to Nimule together with other passengers when their vehicle came under attack by gunmen on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Spokesman of South Sudan Police Service, Daniel Justin Boula confirmed that one person was killed and three others sustained injuries after an attack by unknown gunmen at Loa area along the Juba-Nimule road.

Justin said the attackers, whose motive has not been established, managed to escape after the incident. He pointed out that the wounded people were taken to Nimule Hospital for treatment.
