Eight prisoners, of whom seven are accused of murder, managed to dig themselves out of a prison in Dimsu locality, South Darfur, on Thursday.

A source told Radio Dabanga that the eight prisoners escaped after they dug a hole under the wall of the prison in Dimsu, about 100 km south of Nyala city. He alleged that they received help from inside the prison.

The witness noted that the Dimsu Police Department did not attempt to chase and re-arrest the eight fugitives, after they escaped early in the morning.
