Local authorities are urging farmers and villagers in Mundri West County to return home after a shooting incident earlier in the week.

Eye Radio in Juba had reported fighting between pastoralists and farmers on 30 September, citing Western Equatoria State Minister of Information Charles Kisanga.

The information minister said an exchange of fire followed a dispute after cattle allegedly damaged crops, injuring one girl.

Today Anisa Radio in Yambio quotes Mundri West Commissioner Lexon Mobruk as saying cattle keepers entered somebody’s farm on Sunday and that two gunshots were heard on Monday night.

This caused panic and displacement of the Muru Kodo communities, according to the Catholic radio station, which also confirms the report that one girl was injured, adding that the wound was caused by an arrow and she was rushed to Lui Hospital and is recovering.

Mobruk said that he toured the area on Wednesday and explained that the security situation is back to normal and people should return home.
