One person was killed and four others wounded in an armed cattle raid in Duk County in South Sudan’s Jonglei state Monday night, a local official said.
Duk County commissioner Michael Wuor Reath, told Radio Tamazuj that a civilian and an unknown number of attackers were killed during the clash which took place in Toch area. He said four civilians were wounded in the incident.
He said 1200 cattle were stolen but cattle keepers from Duk managed to recover 786.
Reath accused members of the Murle tribe of involvement in the incident, saying surviving attackers headed toward Murle areas following the fight.
