Khamis Daniel, an official with the mobile phone operator, MTN, says efforts are underway to restore most of the company’s towers in the remote villages outside Yei River County of Central Equatoria State.

Khamis, the MTN marketing coordinator, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the move is aimed at improving access to communication and information in areas such as Morobo, Tore, Lainya, Lujule, and Kajo-Keji.

“Our network team is at work doing upgrading on the current sites in most parts of Yei. The sites were down because of the crisis that happened and currently, we are restoring the sites and the network will go to normal,” Khamis Daniel said. “Regarding the 4G high-speed internet, we shall bring it to Yei once we upgrade the 3G sites.”

He said MTN technicians are already in Yei restoring most of the sites in and outside Yei town.

Several residents in and around Yei town complained about the poor MTN network coverage affecting access to communication services.
